The Many Faces of Harper.....

I got to spend a very rainy Friday morning with this sweet little girl who will soon be celebrating her first birthday. You may remember her from her Christmas session. Yes, she demonstrated some of her many facial expressions in that session as well. This morning she did not disappoint. She has the cutest little crinkled up nose, huge blue eyes, and is so snuggly and loving. She only had stranger danger for about 2 minutes. After that, we were good:) And here she is...Harper:)

The weather today is awful. In fact we are under a tornado watch and the wind is blowing like crazy! I am hoping not to get too familiar with the little closet under our staircase anytime soon. The items in there will not be much fun to spend the afternoon with...unpacked boxes, file cabinet, rolls of wrapping paper. I have spent the most of this morning at home on the computer playing catch up. Catch up on orders, backing up files, emailing clients, working on my soon to come welcome packets etc. etc. But I also stopped to unload these pics I took Saturday while at our ranch. This cow has always been friendly. We have had her since she was a baby, and her friendly demeanor earned her a place on our ranch for a long time to come. She is so nosey. She snoops in Ross' truck, licks the kids, and as you can see, got close enough to my camera that I got a super close up! She even licked my lens hood! Ross had his camera handy and took pics of me taking pics of her. I will unload those soon:)

There's lots going on at the studio. The next few days will consist of more projects going on there. I am wanting to get the outside painted so badly, but the weather isn't staying nice long enough to get that accomplished. Soon, I hope! Have a great week everyone!

My 100th Blog Post! {Angie N Photography: Jasper, TX Area Photographer}

I didn't realize it till I logged in, but this post is my 100th blog post! Sometimes I feel I am so neglectful to this blog, that having posted 100 times seems almost impossible. Have I really blogged 100 times??? Yesterday, the kids were out for the MLK holiday, and our previous neighbors /very good friends decided to come for a visit. These people were not just our neighbors. We were and are tight! Our babies were babies together, we walked in and out of one anothers homes unannounced. I raided her pantry and fridge anytime I wanted (she's a great cook, went to culinary school), and she raided my fridge for a measly diet coke. Her house was always a wreck, and her pantry and fridge were full. My house was clean, and we had NOTHING to eat! We were a great pair! We worked in our yards together, watched each others kids, did school carpool as they grew up. Worked out together while the kids were at school. She responded to the "I am in labor, get over here quick" call when Brady decided to come at 12 a.m. We've bounced every motherly question/I don't know what to do, what would you do scenario regarding our kids you can think of off each other. I truly miss them. Brandi, James, Katie, Abby, and Ellie. I miss them all! In December of 2009, they bought a new house and were leaving our neighborhood. Only two miles from us, but it was still so hard to see them go. The weekend they were to move, I was in my car heading to Jasper. And we talked (and cried) almost my entire way there about how weird it would be not to be neighbors anymore. A year went by, and we too left the neighborhood, and now here we are living in the country. Things change, people move. But yesterday, when they arrived here, our kids picked up right where they left off...as if NOTHING had ever changed. And so did Brandi and I:) Can't wait to see them again. Soon! Very Soon!

2011 in Review: Some of my favorites

2011 was a huge year for my family and my business. We made our move to the "country" and have pretty much been surrounded by all things "new"...such as new schools, new schedules, new friends, new doctors, new home, new studio and new clients. Everything this year has been different than most of our last 10 years. I want to take a moment and tell all my awesome clients how much I truly appreciate you! Jasper has been very good to me these past several months with regard to my photography business. Thank you all so much for trusting me with documenting your memories. I always have a hard time picking favorites each year...but here are some of my very favorites in no particular order. I hope you all have a very prosperous and health 2012!

Valentines Day Mini Sessions: {Angie N Photography, Jasper, Texas Photographer}

Happy New Year! Hope the holidays treated you and your families well. This morning was our first day back from the holidays, and I can't believe it's time to start thinking Valentine's Day. Honestly, after the 22 degree morning we had this morning, I am ready to start thinking SUMMER! But let's not rush it. Below you will find the information for the upcoming Valentines Day Mini Sessions. This is always a somewhat slow time for photographers, so I plan to do some more work/projects on the studio, buy new props and do some "studying" to continue to always provide you all with the best I have to offer. Its Beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Yes, I am behind on blogging sessions. But what photographer isn't? It's our busiest time of year, during the busiest time of year! But I wanted to post a few pictures I took of our holiday decor this year. This is our first year with a real tree...and so far...we LOVE it! This session needed no props or gimmicks...it was simply a family session focused all on the family. The family being together and preserving a moment in time. I was asked by a friend to do this session for this family and I am thrilled that I was able to do it. They were so kind, so friendly, and very fun loving. And they actually all seemed to enjoy their session. Even the kids cooperated and seemed not to mind all the photographing too much despite us saying "this is the last one" at least 47 times before we really took the "last" one. As you go about your day today, please keep Debbie, the mother of this family, in your thoughts and prayers as she undergoes surgery to remove a knot in her neck. Pray for healing for her:)

Personality Galore! {Angie N Photography: Senior Photographer, Jasper, TX}

I got to spend yesterday afternoon with this gorgeous Jasper High senior, Avery. Let me say, she is a doll! Lots of personality as one would expect from the mascot of the football team:) Avery and I have been plotting this session for some time now. She came with several of her own ideas about how she wanted her session to go, which was great. So we threw in a little of hers and a little of mine, and I think we got wonderful results. Victoria {Angie N Photography: Jasper area Senior photographer}

I got to spend Sunday afternoon with a fabulous senior, Victoria. I did not know Victoria prior to our shoot, but we had talked via Facebook about her session, and I quickly was able to tell that Victoria would likely be a dream to photograph. She did not disappoint. All day Saturday, I kept trying to think of something "wonderful" to do for her shoot, because I just knew it had to say "wow". I mean, I had talked with her, knew she loved photography, knew she was always photographing herself, editing, loved art and being creative etc. So, her pics just had to scream I AM VICTORIA!!! Right? Well, Sunday morning got here and I was still at a loss. I was digging through my grandmas closets, scouring our house, thinking of what things I had at the studio...what was I going to do with this session? Im notorious for being last minute, and finally just sent a little confirmation email to Victoria along with instructions to bring whatever she would like in her pictures that was totally "her". Such as a favorite book, her cell phone etc. Well guess what! She did! She showed up with a book she loves, her adorable glasses, a darling jacket, her hello kitty doll, umbrella and wha la....it was magical! She is simply gorgeous and was so at ease in front of the camera. And since pics are what you want to see....here they are:)

Well, it took us a while, but we finally got little Miss Aubri scheduled for the shoot she won during the summer. She tied in a photo contest on the Facebook page and today was her day:) Who doesn't just love a little girl with turquoise boots. Who wants cake??? I do! I do!!! Today I had the pleasure of photographing little Anna on her actual birthday! She started off a little apprehensive, warmed up a bit although still a bit skeptical and worked me and her momma hard! But she was VERY good. We just chased her around and tried to just let her do what she needed to do to stay happy. This is often the age of "stranger danger" and considering I am a stranger and had a huge camera in front of my face pointed right at her...I'd say she did EXCELLENT!!! I have lots of images to sort through.

Only once did she get mad at us enough to all out cry, as you can see in the last image. We will just call that her "its my party and I'll cry if I want to" picture:)

I am cranking 'em out! Third blog post in about a week and a half!!! This next session comes to me from a very special family. In fact, my son Barret would consider Brooke to be his big sister I suppose...since he claims her parents as his "other parents" and their home as his "home away from home"! He is great friends with Brooke's younger brother Chase. I had the pleasure of photographing the gorgeous Brooke last night. I would imagine her dad has mixed emotions about these pictures. Happiness that he and Missy have such a beautiful daughter, and a bit of sadness that she is growing up. And legs....oh my! This girl has some looonnggg legs:) Good news is, these aren't her senior pictures. So we will get to do this all again in a couple of years!!!

Well first of all, I am already doing better about blogging sessions:) This is the second one this week!!! So we have improvement! YAY. Now on to the subject matter at hand. My session today are kiddos from one of our baseball families. They have become great friends to us since we moved here and we just love their little family:) I feel I say this all the time about sessions....but I LOVE these kids!!! These Bryant kids are so much fun, so well behaved and have so many freckles (affectionately known as "frankles" in our house) that you can't resist them:) And personality...OMG at the personality! Awesome family, and very photogenic kiddos! And because I just feel I should....I'm going to say it...."WHO LET THE DAWGS OUT?" Ok I did it...I misspelled dogs. LOL!

So once again it has been a VERY long time since I actually blogged a session. But with a new computer, (im still on my old computer) new software (still editing with old software) and new found desire to actually blog again...I hope to post more often:) This little guy just DESERVED to be blogged about. I have known his dad since I was much younger, and he is a great friend of our family. And now too is his sweet sweet wife:) Lots of people have long awaited the day this little guy would come into the world and offically make Mark a dad! And an awesome Dad he will be! I know this because Mark has actually been volunteering by coaching baseball teams and being an active member of the baseball association despite the fact that he doesn't yet have a child playing baseball. He even made a special trip to Houston to help coach MY son's allstar team when we were in need. I just think it's awesome that there are people so willing to help out and be involved.

Baby Mason is so blessed to have such a great mommy and daddy:) Welcome to the world little man!

Again, it's been so long since I've blogged. Truth is, I'm not very good at keeping up with a blog. Coupled with the fact that our home buying/purchasing was delayed etc. has really just thrown me and my "schedule" for a loop. But now that the studio is up and running, home selling and buying is in progress...maybe I will find more time to sit at my computer and blog. Far to long....{Angie N Photography: Jasper, TX area photographer}

My, my it has been soooo long since I last blogged. Needless to say things have been crazy in the lives of the Neal's and Angie N Photography. The bad news is, we are still semi-homeless here in Jasper. The sell of our home in Kingwood fell through just days before closing, which caused the purchase of our home here in Jasper to be put on hold as well. The good news is...that has allowed for some time to do some remodeling on an old house, which is now the home of Angie N Photography!!!!! YAY I have a real studio! I have a small space almost ready to go, and I will be able to accomodate a couple of small children and seniors in studio, and of course for larger groups outdoor natural light/on location is always great. We do have room to grow here, so if need be, I have plenty of room to expand at a later date:) The remodel of this space has been fun, but there was alot to do. We have done a complete tear out of a bathroom, new paint completely inside, new moldings, some plumbing repairs, painting old wooden floors, new carpet, and lots of new glass in the windows. And thats just the inside, the outside still needs lots of scraping and paint, but that will come in time. Right now, were just about ready to go! Im expecting the new desk and shelves today. So, If your looking to update the photos on your walls this spring, let me know. I'm really looking forward to getting started here very soon! As many of you know, my family has recently located to the Jasper area, and with that, so too has my photography business. I have been running under the radar a bit lately trying to decide how best to operate a successful small business in this area. I know there are already several photographers to choose from in this area. And after much thought and debate, I have changed my pricing structure some to accomodate the market here. Session fees are now $50, with prints starting at $12. You will always get the VERY best I have to offer from each of your sessions. I will always provide the highest possible quality images to my clients, and the best customer service. I will always be striving to learn more to better serve my clients and provide the most "current" in photography. Project 365. Day 8~ A Day in our life....

Today I'm just throwing out a few of the pics shot today. I have spent today getting ready to hibernate from the impending nasty cold weather that should be here tomorrow. So, I have cleaned, cooked, done laundry, made beds, colored with Brady, and oh, the Nerf gun wars that have been going on. As if the boys didn't have 201 acres to go OUTSIDE and shoot those darn things...I've been dodging nerf bullets all day in a 1200 sq. ft. space. Tomorrow we're hoping to get Harry Potter's castle built..so maybe that will be the day 9 photo:) Happy shooting and stay warm tomorrow:)

Running Behind.....

So, In all the frantic"ness" that is a major life change i.e. moving....I am trying to keep this 365 project going. But, I am running a bit behind. I will try to catch up this weekend, but the good news is I am getting the pics...just not getting them up here very timely.

Day 4. I grabbed my camera and shot the first thing I saw...clearly I was sitting at my desk:)

Day 5. I decided to take a picture of my new view. This is the view from the french doors that lead to the deck at the house at the ranch, which is our "home" for a while. This view is much more breathtaking in the summer months.

If your wondering what I intend to do with these pics, I hope to make a coffee table book for each of my kids that will document our year 2011:)

Lens Flare: A Tutorial

Have you seen those photos with that yummy evening light, and then as you look further, sun flare that just adds to the photo and makes you go "ahhh"? Sun flare, lens flare, whatever you choose to call it, it is a popular effect in the photography world. But how do you do it, and do it right? I am NO expert, but I must admit, one of my photography pet peeves is photoshopping in lens flare in all the WRONG places! Here are a few tips to help you get the effect:

1. Shoot in the late afternoon.
2. Use a low ISO speed.
3. Use a pretty open lens for big ring type flare.
4. Different lenses =different flare.
5. Most importantly...look for the flare in your frame.

Here is a picture I took a few moments ago just to use as an example, so don't mind the subject...the picnic table.

You can see in this picture, that the sun is really a little too high in the sky and alot of times, positioning can really wash out the color in the picture. This was taken with my 50mm lens, which dosn't produce dramatic ring type flare, but you can tell there is definitely flare, albeit not great flare.

Next is the photoshopped flare. I realize everyone is entitled to their artistic opinion, but flare where there would really never be flare is just ridiculous. Case in point....

You can see here, that there is a building behind this little girl carrying apples, and the photoshopped flare is right on the building and slightly above her arm...you can see the larger rings going through the basket, and in my opinion it adds nothing to the photo.

And lastly, an example of lens flare that in my opinion does in fact add to the feel of the photo.

You can see in the upper right hand corner, the sun!!! Imagine that! And as you look within the picture, you can see the flare, and the rainbow color effects the flare has in the photo. This was taken in the late afternoon, I was angled just so that I could get flare, but not facing directly at the sun as not to wash the photo out. This was taken with my 24-70mm lens. Alot of times, flare happens by accident, and can be a welcome suprise in your photos:)

Project 365~Day Three~

I couldn't think of a catchy title, so this post is title"less". But these cookies represent about the extent of what I have accomplished today. Tomorrow school starts back and my boys will be going to their first day at their new schools. Anxiety has set in, and nothing better to cure anxiety than baking a batch of "right out of the container" chocolate chip cookies! YUM!

Project 365~Day Two~Me and My "Mini Me"

I did it! I have made it further into project 365 than I did last year! Today at our "home on the range", my family spent the day feeding animals, riding bikes and four wheelers, I cooked a REAL meal and when I wasn't in the house rotating laundry...I followed everyone around with my camera. While we were out, I got this shot of myself and Barret and decided it was just the photo for day two because I could really see how much we do look alike. From the freckles to the same color eyes...he is my mini me in so many ways:) Enjoy

Project 365~Day One

I hope you all are having a fabulous start to the new year. I am attempting Project 365 again this year. It's an attempt to document "something" everyday of the year. I hope to make it further than day two this year:) As each New Year comes along people make resolutions to work out, spend more time with their families, keep a cleaner house, be more organized etc. But today, as I pulled this out of the fridge, I thought to myself..."oh how I should give this up". I thought that I should make a resolution to "give up" Coke. That thought lasted all of 2 seconds as I popped the top. No resolutions to give up Coke from me:) Happy New Year!

Family Baptism: The Moser Kiddos { Angie N Photography}

It's always a fun time in our family when there are babies to baptize! This past weekend two of my sweet nephews were baptized into the Catholic faith. And I had the honor of being the Godparent to one of them. My sweet "Carter Bug"! You may notice me in some of the photos, which means I was NOT the photographer! I got to be on the other side of the lens this time...how strange is that? So I must give credit to my sister in law for toughing it out with my 7lb. camera. I put it on full auto and she went to town! And did great! I may have to hire her as an assistant:)

I was starring at this on my tree, which is located in our "temporary" home and I was just wondering, where oh where will I be this time next year. This weekend marks the beginning of the "transition" phase of our move. And in 8 short days, I will no longer live here in THIS home, the home that has all my children's heights displayed in the door facing of the pantry. (Which I'm having removed by the way and taking with me) I love Christmas and I must admit, it's been weird not to have our halls here all decked. But the next 8 days will be super busy...starting with tonight. Meeting up for dinner with friends to say our "see ya laters". And Christmas programs at the preschool we have adored since Barret was two, and the baptism of my dear sweet nephew Carter, and the 10th birthday of my first born. (How is that possible?) Finishing up last minute shopping, unpacking at the "temporary" house, cleaning at the "on the market" house, wrapping gifts...and {sigh} What I am I forgetting? I can't wait for the kids to get out of school, and start our annual traditions of baking together, watching Christmas movies, drinking hot chocolate and reading Christmas stories. And all this will be in the cozy comfort of our "temporary" home, which is adorable, the halls are decked, has splendid views which most of all are of my children running around in the PEACE and quiet of the country! I hope you all are having a PEACEful holiday season:)

I've taken pictures for several Jasper area families, but since Im almost "officially" a resident...I decided to just go ahead and put it in my blog title! A Boy and His Dog {Angie N Photography Kingwood Children's Photographer}

Alot has transpired since my last post letting you all know about the big move. It has been crazy busy, with EVERYTHING! We got an offer on our house within two weeks, they wanted us out by the 29th of this month, so we began the huge chore of packing, and packing furiously. But, on the 9th day of the option period, guess what? THEY BACKED OUT!!! Yes, can you believe! After 80% of our house was packed, were now down to eating off paper plates daily and have minimal kitchen ware. And I'm not unpacking just to do it again in a month. So, we're makin it! It was a huge disappointment, that they would go so far and then back out without explaination, but we're past that and showing the house again. Sooooo, after all that, I was feeling a much needed reunion with my neglected camera to put me in a good mood, and these two subjects perked me right up! Brady and Wendy! They had me cracking up while I was photographing them, and though they arn't all perfect shots, they are what I would call perfectly imperfect shots:) Gotta love'em!

Big Changes {Angie N Photography Kingwood Photographer}

After two long years of trying to decide how to make living in Kingwood and owning a ranch 120 miles from Kingwood work, we are moving. For several months Ross had actually been in the process of trying to get a transfer to the Lufkin area, which works out of Beaumont. But Beaumont isn't ready to do an official office there, and has asked if he would work on getting Lufkin going, while reporting to Beaumont some as well. So, we are moving...to Jasper...after much debate and prayer. Since Ross' dad's death 2 years ago, he has fell in love with running this ranch but it has been VERY hard to live one place and do everything here, and have responsiblities somewhere else. Often, I am here in Kingwood doing what needs to be done here, with the kids, while Ross spends his weekends at the ranch tending to things there. This will allow us to have more of a "home" and be together more. And Ross won't constantly be torn between two places. Our kids are VERY excited to be there, close to cousins, and grandparents, and all the things they love to do! I am a little concerned about my proximity to Target, and I will miss my sweet, sweet friends terribly. But truth be known...we are all very excited and can't wait to start our new life and be settled....really settled! If you have a session scheduled, it will take place! I will not be scheduling anything after Dec 31st till I know more about when we will actually be making the move.

I had the opportunity to do something totally different today. I got to take photos for a commercial brochure for a business. Thanks to Elizabeth (who is the wonderfully talented landscape designer behind Designs by Elizabeth) I got to spend my morning with these three beautiful ladies! Did I mention they are BEAUTIFUL? They started the session feeling a little apprehensive about the camera, but quickly warmed up and we got some great shots of all of them. Each session, I find that I tend to gravitate towards a person, something in them just makes me want my camera on them at all times. Today was no exception. I could have photographed Wendy ALL day. And I think she was the most apprehensive at the start. I think Wendy could actually get good with the whole "camera in face" thing:) And you may notice, they ALL have gorgeous eyes and flawless skin? Beautiful ladies, inside and out! Do you recall my facebook posts regarding baby Henry, and how he came into this world 10 weeks early and at 1lb. 14 oz. ! He spent 8 weeks in the NICU and has been home now for a month. And he is doing very well. Henry is now 8lbs. 4 oz. and three months old! An adorable bundle of joy, and even sporting an second chin! Way to pack it on Henry! Inspiration...Where Does it Come From? {Angie N Photography}

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked me..."how do you come up with ideas time after time for shoots"? And I really wasn't exactly sure how to answer and had to think about it for a minute. But the truth is, I am always looking for inspiration to infuse into my sessions. As photographers, we turn to each other, we pick and choose things we like about one and about another, and our personal preferences, and in turn we get "our style". We all see things differently, that's part of what makes this so much fun.

One particular photographer that amazes and inspires me daily is Sarah Cornish of My Four Hens Photography. She is adorable inside and out, and the images she creates will take your breath away. And if that were not enough, she creates the most beautiful actions. I "heart" her actions to pieces! Finding MY Joy {Angie N Photography}

Many of you may recall this summer when I did the Finding the Joy Workshop with Kelly Willette...well, now I'm in Finding YOUR Joy. This workshop has pushed me so far out of my comfort zone...and how do you ask? It is all about self portrait and making sure that not only do you have photos of your kids and loved ones, but they have photos of you too! Since I'm always behind the camera, this is making me be in front of the camera. It's been rather uncomfortable, I will admit. I find that I wear workout clothes far too much and too long during the day...and that I rarely get my makeup on during the week. Next week, I'm going to shoot for getting dressed with makeup and getting a few shots:) And since this is all about me...I leave you with a pic of ...you guessed it....ME:)

Well, we have started week two of school and I'm really enjoying the peace and quiet around here for now. Homework has already started, evening activities have began and things are in full swing around here. And....we're approaching my favorite time of year...FALL! First Day of School

Summer slipped away although from being outside, it's hard to tell. The boys started back to school yesterday which means many things like going to bed early, getting up early, homework and baseball practice. Barret has started 4th grade, Hayes is in 2nd and Brady is in transitional kindergarten. All were very excited to get back and see their friends. And that means....I need to get back to work! Sweet Summer is Slipping Away {Angie N Photography}

{Gasp} A blog post from Angie? Really? Yes my friends it it true...my blog was just about to flatline and tonight I felt the need to resuscitate it! Sweet summer is slipping away and my mind is beginning to wander towards getting my camera back to work and seeing all my awesome clients again soon! Summer for the Neal's has been awesome! We have enjoyed our break tremendously. We have played tons of baseball, made a trip to Gulf Shores for a World Series, spent a week on the lake, and alot of time at our ranch....which is where I find myself tonight. If there is any where my kids love being more than here....I don't know where it is! They LOVE being here. I have to admit...it's peaceful, away from all the day to day "busy" we live with in Houston. But I will also admit that I'm beginning to get the jitters from not visiting a Target or Home Goods in several weeks now...AND...(don't pass out) I spent an entire week at the lake with my toe nails NOT painted because I haven't been able to visit my pedicure place! So yes, I'm definitely beginning to miss a few things "city"! Angie N Photography will be celebrating our 1 Year anniversary on Sept. 1st! Can you believe it? So stay tuned for some surprises regarding that! And lastly, no blog post is complete without pics, so I will leave you with some pics that we have taken while being here at the ranch! ~Angie

Oh, how I've neglected to blog lately. With all my boys home for the summer and the workshop I'm doing, the baseball tourneys and, well, LIFE...I've not had much time for anything. But who would be able to pass up blogging about this sweet girl. Having three boys...I tend to get a little excited when I get the opportunity to photograph a girl. She was adorable. She did prefer to be held...who wouldn't, and she much preferred to have her clothes ON! But we did get some sweet shots of her. And we couldn't leave out big brother and his buddy Buzz! Busy Week for Babies {Angie N Photography}

Wow! It's been a super busy week for babies in our family. Monday brought Henry Isaac into to the world 10 weeks early and weighing in at only 1lb 15oz. Henry was born to my sweet sweet cousin Laine who is so very special to me. She and her husband have had such a difficult pregnancy, but Henry is here, and doing GREAT to be so tiny. When he was born, we were telling our kids and Barret asked "how big is that Dad", and Ross said "Barret, if he were a Bass, he wouldn't be a keeper"! LOL! No need to throw Henry back though....he is definitely a keeper:)

And if that wasn't enough....Carter Ryan whose pics you see above, was born yesterday to my sister. He was a whopping 8lbs. Much larger than his cousin Henry! Carter is super adorable, and since we were busy playing baseball...I didn't get to see him today:( Carter is scheduled for pictures again next Friday, so more to come from him soon! I'm so lucky to have such an awesome family, we always have someone getting married, having a birthday, anniversary, baby, graduation or SOMETHING. Never a dull moment! And by the way, as soon as I can get to Ft. Worth and get some shots of Henry, I will share!

Fix It Friday: I Heart Faces

It's Friday, so that means it's Fix it Friday at I Heart Faces! Is this shot not just adorable? The person that submitted this picture is the mom of these two sweet babies and she felt the picture was a little drab...so here is my fix. First I did a duplicate layer, next I bumped the midtones a tiny bit with curves, did an adjustment layer, hue/saturation and adjusted the sliders till some off the redness was out of the skin. Lastly, I ran the straight up color action from My Four Hens!

First shot is original, second is my edit! Have a GREAT Memorial Day weekend everyone!

The Neal family is sooooo ready for summer, as always. I guess the fact that we actually had a winter this year, has made us long for summer that much more. We headed to the lake this weekend to get a jump start on summer. We even played hookie from work and school on Monday, just because we "needed" to! We have just been so busy with work, school and baseball. And baseball is about to get very busy till mid July! So, for all of those on the lake this coming memorial day weekend, have fun and be safe! Here are a few pics from our R & R weekend:)

Fix It Friday: I Heart Faces

It is fix it Friday over at I Heart Faces. That is where people can submit photos to be fixed, and we who work on them, can share how we fixed them. It's a great way to brush up on your processing skills and learn new things. The first photo is the photo that was submitted to be fixed this Friday. And the second black and white image is my fix! I use Elements 7.

First I did a duplicate layer, screen @ 100%. Then I did an adjustment layer, hue/saturation and adjusted the sliders till I got some of the yellow out of her face. Followed that up with the Black and White Vanilla Florabella action and there ya have it! My "fix" for this photo!

There is much debate in the photography world about whether or not professional photogs should share pics of their families and tid bits of their lives on their blog sites or not. Some say that the blog should be for clients only and not showcase or give insight to the photographers life...I say NOT!!!! I think it is imperative for my clients to "know me"! I think that by seeing who I am, what I'm about and the things I take pictures of...helps them as a client decide If I'm the photographer that is right for them. We had the weekend off from baseball which meant it was time to go check in on all the critters at the ranch. We got there to find 31 new additions to the ranch family. Yes, I said 31 new calves...and about 50 more to go. Looking at them all standing there all right at the same age and curious just never ceases to amaze me. Several of the babies got very curious about me and my camera...and I know if Brady hadn't yelled what ever profound words he felt he needed to share with us right as they were about to come up to me...I would have got my hands on one of them! We walked all day and it was so nice to be in the sun despite the fact it was still cold. I took tons of pics...so I'm only posting a few here...but they are on my facebook page in an album if you would like to see them all. This coming weekend...it's back to the ballpark!

I had the pleasure of finally getting to meet little miss Avery today. And did we have FUN! She is full of 16 month old energy! And very spirited! She was adorable, fun, and made me work hard!!!! LOL! She spent so much time running around, I was surprised to have gotten as many shots as we got. I believe she has already decided on her profession. She's going to be a photographer. I know this because she was very interested in the lights, and how they should be set up. She particularly liked backdrops, most especially the white paper background. Oh My! Case is 16months old...but today you would have thought he was right in the middle of his terrifying two's! I can say that because he's my nephew! And HE DOES NOT LIKE MY CAMERA! Many of you probably remember "Little Boy Neal" as the the jukebox man from Jasper. He only ran the business there for the most of his very long life. All three of my boys are named after him. I've been meaning to get this up for several days now. But, all my attempts to organize (my new year's resolution) have kept me pretty busy! So, I'm getting to it well into January..this is still the beginning of January, right? Yes, my tree is down! Anyway, this was hard! I made a folder and started going through pics and I was dragging pics to my "9 Favs" folder...and when I got done....I had 27 favorites in that folder. Soooooo I had to narrow it down to 9. My kids have patiently waited for this day....whatever day I decided to make the cookies for them to decorate. Today was THE day! They love this time of year when they get to dip pretzels in white chocolate, ice cookies and use sprinkles...and leave the kitchen having eaten enough sugar to last till their annual cookie decorating day next year. I was trying to earn my mother of the year award and we skipped breakfast and went right on to cookie decorating/eating. Nutritious right? Oh, and they did have a little fudge...that makes it better! What else can I say. I had THE MOST cooperative clients I've had in a while! These super sweet, well behaved, adorable girls came to me today with their dad for some Christmas photos. And by the way, if your area is experiencing a drought...book a session with me. I've shot the past three Sunday's in either clouds, mist, or all out rain. How bummed am I that I was on top of things and got my Christmas card done early this year. I was anticipating all the other cards I would be creating for others...and low and behold...it SNOWS!!!! Can you tell I would have loved to have a snowy Christmas card this year! Oh well...My kids have loved it, but they have also declared that they are "not winter people" LOL! I can't decide which to post...so Im just posting away....

I cried as I drove away from this shoot last week....and WHY? This family has lived across the street from us for over 7 years now....and I was doing their Christmas shoot at their "soon to be" New home! They moved out and closed on the sale of their home across from us the same day of this shoot...so driving home to them not being their was very sad for me...and them too. As I drove to Jasper that evening to celebrate Thanksgiving, the "remember when" text messages started flooding in from the mom of this family. Needless to say, I drove all the way there all watery eyed...and had to get firm with her to STOP with the texting...as we are only about a mile apart now afterall. But it's not the same, and we will miss seeing them everyday something terrible! Here's a sneek peek of the "A" family!

Yes, I will be in Austin cheering on the Dynasty 9U team at the state tournament this weekend. So as of this moment...I'm officially "out of office". I have packing to do, snack shopping, car windows to paint and don't forget I must buy my royal blue snuggie! LOL So those of you baseball fans out there, say a little prayer for us as we make our way to Austin to pick up our STATE title! Go Dynasty!

What an exciting afternoon. I drove to this shoot in the pouring rain and drove home from this shoot in the pouring rain. All that after "sort of" rescheduling to go back to our original time. Whew, mother nature was not nice to me when trying to get this one done. And rescheduling for a later date....well, there isn't a later date! Soooo, we decided to go for it. Let's just say we got this accomplished in the 30 minutes it was only slightly misting yesterday as opposed to all out pouring! AND...I shouldn't forget to mention that Brady lost a tooth during the session! Tooth fairy or not...he wasn't real happy about it! Enjoy your sneek peek "T" family!

Gabz is turning "2"!

I just couldn't wait to get a few of these up. Her mom is anxiously waiting! This little princess is truly a princess living in a boys world! She has two older brothers and 5 cousins, all boys! She just so happens to be my only niece/godchild and "has us wrapped around her finger" does not even begin to describe the hold this little girl has on everyone in the family! She was a blast...and I have to include just one of her oldest brother, Grayson, who was desperately trying to get away from my camera as he was sneaking by with his new bike! This was just the funnest family to spend a super sunny Saturday afternoon with. I have known the mom since I was a little girl. We went to kindergarten together and graduated high school together. Well that is how it has been with Miss Ellie Belle! She is my neighbor...and we've been going to get together....and going to get together and well....you get it. She's so conveniently located...that we can get together anytime! RIGHT! Well, it finally came together today and there are too many beautiful pics of this blond beauty to share. So, I edited a couple to get up here, b/c she has a "super patient not anxious to see the results" mom! Whew~I Have Lots to Learn!

For some reason I all of a sudden got the urge to try photography in a studio setting. I had visions of tiny babies all sweet and asleep and under the lights and action of my camera. And sweet 1 year olds smashing a cake in celebration of the 1 year milestone. But before that could happen...I had/have a lot to learn about working with studio lights. I bought all the gear. And invaded our "formal" living room. Tonight, a simple $1 and pizza with cheese IN the crust was all it took to get these guys to cooperate so mom could "pretend" to have real live studio shoot. This is what I've learned so far. 1. Im so much more comfortable outside with natural light. 2. The light is more even in that room during the day using the studio lights with blinds open. 3. Lights off in that room at night produce less shadows. 4. Studio is much faster to edit. And 5. I must keep shooting and practicing...must keep shooting and practicing. Here are the results of our shoot tonight! Sorry there are so many!

Go White Sox! Brady's 1st Game

I can't believe Im cheering on the White Sox. But that IS Brady's tee-ball team...so how could I not. He was supposed to have his first game on Monday and it poured here. It was thundering, lightning, raining sideways...and we had to get IN THE CAR and DRIVE to the ballpark to prove to him that the game was NOT happening without him! As he told me " he's waited his whole life for this"! All four years. And actually, he isn't kidding. This child loves baseball more than his big brother Barret I think. Anyway, here are a few shots. They are terrible...it was nearly dark...and I hate flash! But you get the idea and can see the fun he's having!

This girl has to be one of the prettiest girls in all of Kingwood...heck Houston for that matter! She was AMAZING! She knows what to do and how to work a camera! She was a doll! I have too many favorites to post for sneak peek...her entire session was fabulous. The girl just dosn't take a bad picture! 3 Minus 1 = Unusual Weekend

This weekend has been very "unusual" for many reasons. First being that we didn't have a basball tourney this weekend (gasp). And the other being that Im home with the older two boys and Brady is gone to the cattle auction with Ross. Hence the 3 Minus 1= Unusual. Usually, the big boys go with dad and Brady and I stay home. Cattle auctions interest me...ummm....NONE! But, Barret wanted to do a sleep over, Hayes wanted to play wii...and mom...well, mom just wanted to do nothing. So, this afternoon while we were doing nothing I coaxed the boys (with a new wii game bribe) to let me take some pics of them. I have been trying to get some pics of Hayes since he turned 7 in August and it has taken till now to get it done. We had fun...they did great and well...here they are! Enjoy!

Free Set of "Mom Cards" with Booked Session

All you moms out there....these are too cool and have tons of uses. As a busy mom Im always having to label something, or some other parent wants MY contact info. Well here is the solution. With a booked session you will get 50 FREE "Mom Cards". You will choose a picture from your session, that picture will go on one side of your card and your information will be on the other. Easy to hand out, business card size. They can be laminated and attached to backpacks, handed out at play dates etc. Text can be customized to say whatever you like...ex: Christie Williams: mom to Grayson, Gavin and Gabbie, or simply a childs name! I have posted an example of one side of a card...the other side is the pic of your choice from your session.

Me and My Shadow....

That's what Ross was singin today as he and Brady walked around. We went to what our family affectionatly refers to as the "100 acres" to retrieve the "deer camp" so it could be made ready for the upcoming season and these are just a couple of shots I took of Brady with Ross. Just couldn't resist posting them. I thought they were super sweet... especially since it was Ross' birthday. Before we know it...that little hand won't be so little.

One of my Favorite "Little People"

He is one of my favorite little guys...but he gave me a run for my money this morning. It was HOT...I was sweating and HE was not in the mood for pictures. See, he is usually STILL asleep at 9:30 a.m. so me chasing him with a camera in 99 degree heat wasn't his idea of a "good morning". We made it quick and he cooperated a little. Im sure now he's back at home in the A/C taking a much deserved nap! Here's a sneak peak....

Okay friends, most of you know that I like to be on time/early....so here it is...a WEEK early! The new angieN website is finally up for you to view! This has been a very busy last couple of weeks and I must say I'm glad to get this site up and get started. Thanks to all my friends and family who have kept me going and "put in your 2 cents" as this has all evolved. And speaking of evolution...check the site often.
